Dunki Box Office Collection Day 2: Shah Rukh Khan's earnings see a huge drop as Prabhas starrer Salaar releases in theaters, collects over Rs 14 crore

Dunki Movie- After giving two back-to-back blockbusters ‘Pathan’ and ‘Jawaan’ this year, Shah Rukh Khan’s third film ‘Dunky’ seems to be a flop. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the film received mixed reviews from critics and audiences. While the film took a good start at the box office on its opening day, it saw a huge decline in its collections on the second day.

According to Sacknilk, the overall occupancy at Dunki on Friday was 25 percent. Looks like the release of Prabhas starrer Salaar directed by Prashant Neel has badly affected the collections of the SRK starrer. As per early estimates, Dunky is set to earn over Rs 14 crore on the second day, taking its two-day collection to over Rs 44 crore.

On its opening day, the film, which also featured Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani, Vicky Kaushal among others, grossed Rs 30 crore at the domestic box. Dinky’s first-day earnings are significantly lower than those of both Pathan and Jawan, who earned Rs 55 crore and Rs 65.5 crore respectively in their debut days in India. Both films grossed over Rs 1000 crore at the worldwide box office.

Salaar, on the other hand, has performed brilliantly at the domestic box office. The film, which also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, is set to gross Rs 95 crore in India across all languages. It remains to be seen whether Dunky will be able to get the overall back on the board as it faces stiff competition from the Prabhas starrer in its opening weekend. While Dunky marks the first collaboration of SRK and Hirani, Salaar also marks the biggest first time collaboration between KGF director Prashant Neel and Baahubali star Prabhas. Donkey was released in theaters on December 21, while Salaar is in theaters today.
