The collapse of the Uttarkashi tunnel LIVE: PM Modi congratulates Chief Minister Dhami
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, wishing the safe evacuation of 41 Silkyara employees.
During this time, the Prime Minister obtained information about the workers from the Chief Minister, according to the Uttarakhand CMO.
PM asked the Chief Minister what provisions had been made for the workers’ health care, vacating their homes, and caring for their families once they were evacuated from the tunnel. The Chief Minister notified the Prime Minister that after exiting the tunnel, all personnel were transferred directly to Chinyalisaur Hospital for mandatory health checks, etc. The workers’ families have also been transferred to Chinyalisaur, where the state government would make all necessary arrangements to return them home at their leisure, according to the CMO.
The Chief Minister stated that the rescue mission was only accomplished because of the Prime Minister’s effective leadership.He said that “We were able to safely evacuate 41 workers thanks to the coordination of the Central Government and State Government entities” according to the statement.

“It is estimated that it will take 3-5 minutes to evacuate each of the 41 people,” NDMA Member Syed Ata Hasnain stated during a press conference in New Delhi. After the breakthrough, the total evacuation from the Silkyara tunnel is likely to take 3-4 hours.” He also stated that three NDRF personnel will go inside the tunnel to organize the evacuation. SDRF will provide assistance, and paramedics will also enter the tunnel during the evacuation.
“All safety procedures will be taken. Premature announcements are prohibited; they violate all principles. We must also ensure the safety and security of those who are rescuing the workers…”We’re not in a rush,” he continued.

With the critical task of placing pipes in the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi done, a temporary medical facility inside the tunnel has been expanded as part of the rescue efforts to bring out the 41 trapped workers.
The medical center has been extended to accommodate staff who will be evacuated. The Health Department has set up eight beds in case of emergency. A group of doctors and professionals has been assembled.
All provisions have been made to offer the necessary medical care to workers after they are evacuated.
A Chinook helicopter has been set on standby at the Chinyalisaur airfield in case the workers need to be airlifted after being rescued from the Silkyara tunnel.
